Wonderful heavy Benin bronze Ritual Chief Scepter Axe.
The wearer of this Scepter Axe was a high placed person in the society, probably a Chief. It symbolizes authority, power and a high social status.
Beautifully made, with plenty of details. It has a beautiful geen patina.
On top a head of the king with a crown on his head. The handle is zigzagged like a snake. The blade is made from iron and has tribal figurations on it.
This scepter is of high quality and was made with the - cire perdue technique- , and is therefore unique in its kind. Beautifully finished off in detail.
Good condition, but with signs of use and normal holes of cast glitches. Please study the photos well.
