Antique Cameroon Banum tribe ceremonial tobacco pipe from West Africa. Heavy bowl is made of terracotta or clay, the thick carved part of the stem may be bone and the thinner top area of the stem is reed wood of some sort. Weighs about 1 pound, 10 ounces and stands about 14” tall. There’s a hairline crack along the top of the bowl base and the bottom of the thick carved stem area but it has never been repaired nor broken through. Believed to be actual ceremonial piece and not an item made for the tourist trade. Very intricate and well made. Will ship promptly and carefully.
