    Description

    Antique Large Sword - DOKO Tribe - Northern DR Congo - Outstanding Piece
    Late 19th - early 20th century. Iron, copper, wood. Cm. 60,50 in length (18.11"); weight: grams 696,0 (23.82 oz.).
    The iron blade is forged and decorated with tribal engravings. An axial rib extends from the heel to the tip forming an obtuse angle, it is inlaid with 4 dots of copper. This weapon presents a cylindrical handle, slightly enlarged at the level of the hilt. The wooden part is covered with iron strips.
    The tranchet sword is attributed to the populations who live in the northwest of the D.R of Congo, such as the Yakoma, the Sango, the Ngbandi, the Poto, the Ngombe, the Doko and the Mbudja.
